Offcourse you have to be lucky to spawn in that arena, but if u do, lots of people can enjoy u die/win. would be cool, and the chatters from random arena would have a place to sit n talk and watch fights.

And onlookers can also prime their build against whoever is fighting and winning in the ring atm. Doesn't work.

Yeah. Healing monk vs smiting monk. Battle of the century! Atleast it lasts a century if nothing else. Or two interruptmesmers camping each other, waiting for one to cast something. Brilliant! Or two elementalists trying to sneak in that first spell at each other. Plus, ever heard of "playing your secondary"? That Mo/W can play an W. That Me/R can play an R. Limiting the arena by primary profession solves nothing.

If they would have made this game for balanced teamplay only, they would have made the scrimmage thing for full parties only, or atleast a party of 2, since u have a TEAM then.

Because people kept whining about the lack of 1vs1. They kept whining about lack of stuff where you can test builds. Or have arranged tournaments/matches with set groups. Scrimmage fixed all those at once.

You can hardly test your build against, say touch rangers using the Isle of the Nameless. There aren't any touch rangers to play against. You can either get a possibly working build and go find a real touchy at an arena, or ask a guildie to play a touchy against you. Oh em gee, scrimmage used for testing builds way better isle of the nameless ever can!

2 v 2 maybe alright (only maybe) but 1 on 1 wouldn't work. 1 v 1 scrimmages are quite good for testing out new builds, a friend of mine tries new builds on me fairly often in 1 v 1. You can say that the Isle of the Nameless is for testing builds but its not quite the same as having a real opponent.
2 v 2s would offer more variation on the opponents you would face. Pacifism and Amnity would be so annoying in 1 v 1 people would quit in disgust after a while. You could do a pacifism + traps build as a R/Mo now that would be interesting...

This is a great idea. I have always wanted this.
Sometimes someone says that their warrior can own my warrior, but once my RA team beats his team, I'll problaly never see him again. Me and my friends also want to fight each other in a 1v1 fight.
If ANet thinks that people will purposely lose or hack it just to get points, experience, or factions; just have no points or factions involved in the arena.
It could go like this:
~Naruto says that he could totally pawn Bob's warrior with his assassin.
~Bob accepts Naruto's challenge. Bob types "/challenge Naruto"
~Naruto gets a message box that Bob has challenged him to a one versus one duel
~Naruto accepts the message by pressing the "Accept" button
~Naruto and Bob go into a seperate small map
~Wait for 20 seconds for match to start
~Doors open and Naruto and Bob clash
~Bob wins: no points, experience, or factions gained. Honor and pride is gained.
~Bob and Naruto gets teleported to Balthazar's Palace
~Repeat, Rematch, Walk away in shame, do the victory dance, etc...

Go to your guild hall and do a scrimmage battle, you can also take a goup of people where they can watch. 1 on 1 is a great and unique suggestion but no.

Terrible, terrible idea that has been suggested too many times. Let's say you're playing a warrior and some mesmer is really angering you. There is litterally no chance of you winning against a mesmer with warrior hate. Or let's say you want to dual a monk. Oh wait, he's a 55 monk! No enchant removal FTL! SoJ means you can't attack him either. There is simply no way you can effectively handle all of the builds out there with 8 skill slots.

would you people stop saying it would all be vs builds that counter each other?. I mean honestly. I hate the stupid guest guild hall crap, sooo much easier to jsut click trade/duel and duel on a small map with NO ncps.
no factions no xp. (if it bothers you so damned much) for pride only. and no! rock paper and siccors does not cut it.
as for your crip shot ranger / w/e owning everything, i very much dought it.
kiting will be limited becasue the battle feild will be small. the size of radar screen maybe a bit more. much harder to kite. there are so many ways to remove conditions its rediculous. crip shot yourself out of mana if it helps. or if i brought a mass spirit spammer and set up displacement /shadow song "WHAT IF!" i mean come on. it would force peopel to think and would be like gambling. and it would be fun.
dont crowd on our parade just because it can't be legitly balenced every fight. Or winning could be based on dmg done/healed/tanked at the end of a set time limit. say 10 minutes.
